Line Bowl, Waves

Fine lines run in tight parallel bands from the rim down to the base, each one drawn into the clay body before the block is cut and formed into shape. Look closely and the lines aren't perfectly straight — they waver slightly. The bowl is built in one continuous sweep, so the pattern follows the curve of the wall rather than sitting on top of it.

A bowl like this needs two firings — a low bisque around 790°C so the surface can still be sanded, then a final firing to full density up to 1240°C. The pale, sand-toned body and the fine lines only reach their final contrast after that second firing.
